We are just starting our focus on summer projects around Alpine and North Star Valley. This summer we'll be highlighting area hiking trails from '30 Great Hikes around Alpine Wyoming' by Meta Dittmer and area bike rides from yours truly, Jeremy Larsen. Our working Projects include designing a non-motorized trail system starting at the Greys River parking area. We submitted a trails application with Greys FS District in June 2020. From trail idea to actual use takes several years and we'll keep at it. ATaP is also working with Lincoln County to develop a non-motorized trail system and the Town of Alpine on their TAP Grant for the Greys Rd pathway project and additions to the Bike and Skate Park.. These projects are a great start to our new year round focus for non-motorized trails and pathways. The best way to keep up the momentum on these projects and more are to let your government representatives and Forest Service personnel know, in a respectful and kind way, that you support and want non-motorized trails and pathways.
30 Great Hikes around Alpine Wyoming by Meta Dittmer
Throughout the summer We'll be highlighting a few local hikes from Meta's book. If you haven't picked it up, head over to the Alpine Visitor's Center and get a copy. Before you head out on any adventure or "just a little hike", be sure to tell someone where you're going. Take sunscreen, bug repellent, bear spray, first aid kit, rain jacket, water, food, and any other personal items.
Proposed Greys Trail System for Mill Creek
****NOTE****-This is a working application with Greys District. This is NOT a completed trail. Please allow the FS to assess and evaluate our application. Once the trail is approved, ATaP will reach out to the community for volunteer days. Thanks
Thank You to Pauline Chu for her vision and design work
The Town of Alpine, Alpine Trails and Pathways and Fish Creek Excavation are actively working to improve the Alpine Sports Park. We have submitted a $650,000.00 ARPA grant and are waiting to hear back from Wyoming Outdoor Recreation Pathfinders. Our plans for this grant is to improve and/or create four parks: Skate Park, Bike Park, Ice Rink and Climbing park. Each park will cater to kids small and big, ages 2-100+.
We have already expanded the Skate Park, but have designs to add a picnic shelter, similar to what's down at the Ball Field, providing shade, shelter and space to watch your kids have fun! Also in the works are lighting, landscaping and room to grow.
Bike Park: The Bike Park will replace and expand the current flow track, add jump tracks, and a skills track.
Climbing Park: We plan to build three forms from Eldorado Climbing, www.eldowalls.com. These forms: XS4, S4, and M2, will challenge beginners to advanced climbers.
Ice Rink: Expanding on our already popular ice rink, we'll have a liner for better consistent ice and boards that boarder the rink.
Finally, the icing on the park cake, We'll finish it off with restrooms. One each for the upper and lower park. then fill the park in with landscaping, gravel pathways and parking, an info kiosk and a privacy wall for our neighbors.
The Alpine Sports Park is a big project that will need your help to complete. We will announce as soon as we know if we are successful with the grant. If we do not receive the grant, the Town of Alpine, Alpine Trails and Pathways, Fish Creek Excavation and donations from our community will keep working to help complete this park.
If you would like to make a donation please visit our Donate Page or you can make donations to Town of Alpine. Any questions feel free to reach out to Town of Alpine or ATAP. Thank You for your support.
